Despite the βnot so niceβ weather, it was a blast! The crews are attentive very quick to take care of needs. Smooth sailing kudos to the captain . Vancouver by night is always bright and beautiful! Dinner-food was cooked to perfection, socializing nye countdown, dancing fun fun fun.
A surprisingly good experience

I've been on harbor cruises before, in lots of different cities, and they're nearly always exactly the same: you wait forever in line so that you can finally get on a beat-up boat, with lousy food and inadequate seating space, while it trundles around in the water for a specified period of time. You don't go on these things for the cruise itself, or at least I don't: you go for the view, and you just put up with the rest.
This one was different. Sure, there was the obligatory long wait outside, and the boat was certainly not new. But the food was actually pretty good. And there were drinks (both alcoholic and otherwise) that were reasonably priced. And there were actually lots of different places to go, both inside and outside, depending on what you wanted. We could stay at our table, if we didn't mind listening to the dozen or so children screaming happily at one another. We could go upstairs, if we wanted to dance. We could go outside, where one end of the boat seemed full of people and the other was blissfully secluded.
We were there for the view, of course, and it was worth every penny; the Vancouver NYE fireworks show was simply stunning. But the cruise itself was pretty great, too. What a wonderful, surprising, FUN way to start the year!
